Tres razones por las que prefiero los protectores solares minerales a los químicos
El protector solar es must para el cuidado de la piel, ¡sin importar la estación! Nos protege de manchas, arrugas, quemaduras e irritación causadas por el sol. No comencé a usar bloqueador hasta los 24 años por falta de conocimiento, y en los últimos años, me he convertido en una fiel defensora de los protectores solares minerales.
¿Qué es un Protector Solar Mineral?

Existen dos tipos principales de protectores solares: químicos y minerales. Los protectores solares minerales, como los de óxido de zinc y dióxido de titanio, crean una barrera física que refleja los rayos UVA y UVB. En cambio, los protectores solares químicos absorben los rayos UV y los inactivan mediante una reacción química.
- Después de probar ambos tipos, aquí te cuento las tres razones por las que prefiero los protectores solares minerales:
1. Son antiinflamatorios y antioxidantes:
El óxido de zinc es perfecto para pieles sensibles, incluyendo rosácea y eczema, porque desvía el calor del sol. También es perfecto para proteger el área alrededor de los ojos, donde suelen aparecer las primeras arrugas. Además, combate los radicales libres y la polución, por lo que es un excelente aliado para el día a día.
2. No penetran la piel:
A diferencia de los protectores solares químicos, los ingredientes minerales no se absorben en el torrente sanguíneo, lo que los hace más seguros para embarazadas y madres lactantes. Durante mi embarazo, opté únicamente por protectores minerales para evitar cualquier riesgo.
3. Proporcionan proteccion de amplio espectro
El óxido de zinc cubre tanto los rayos UVB (los que queman) como los UVA (los que envejecen). Si ves PA++++ en la etiqueta, ¡estás ante la máxima protección UVA! Y recuerda, SPF 50 es ideal para la protección UVB.
¿Qué pasa con los protectores químicos? No todos tienen protección de amplio espectro. El producto tiene que estar etiquetado como “amplio espectro”. Lo importante es leer la etiqueta.
¿Lo malo de los protectores minerales?
Aunque los protectores solares minerales tienen muchos beneficios, pueden dejar un tono blanco en la piel, especialmente en tonos de piel más oscuros. También suelen ser más caros. Después de años de búsqueda, encontré tres bloqueadores minerales que amo y que funcionan para toda mi familia.
Las siguientes características es lo que busco en los protectores solares minerales:
- Sin fragancias o perfumes
- Sin aceites esenciales
- Sin alcohol desnaturalizado
- Protección mínima SPF 50++++ (aunque uso SPF 40 dentro de la casa cuando la radiación del día no es muy alta)

Mi favorito por años (lo usé durante mi embarazo). Con 10% óxido de zinc, protege contra la polución y no deja un tono blanco si lo difuminas bien. Es perfecto para toda la familia, incluido mi bebé de 2 años.
2. Supergoop! Mineral Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40
Precio: $40 US
Aunque prefiero SPF 50, este es genial por su efecto invisible. Tiene 17.68% óxido de zinc y extracto de bambú, un antioxidante que protege de los radicales libres. Además, funciona como primer antes del maquillaje.
3. Dr. Vanita Rattan InZincable Mineral Broad Spectrum SPF 50
